Bikram yoga is a series of 26 Hatha yoga postures (Asanas) and two breathing exercises (Pranayamas). It is performed in a room approximately 105 degrees, and an average humidity of 40%. The class is suitable for all ages and levels of ability. The traditional class is 90 min. We also offer it in a 60 min version.
Each posture in the Bikram series is designed to systematically, as well as progressively stretch and lubricate the fascia (connective tissue), work out every muscle, tendon, joint, ligament, organ and gland, while sending oxygenated blood around the entire body. It reaches every cell and restores all systems to a healthy working order, just as nature intended.
This is also why we start with the powerful Pranyama breathing (similar to Wim Hof’s breathing technique). This not only brings oxygen into the tissues, but vital energy, the energy that animates you, known by many names such as prana, qi, chi, scalar, life force, superluminal light, aether, and the Higg’s field. This energy is moved by the breath. Did you know that many cultures use the same word for breath and spirit?
